Dayton Celebrates 80 Years of Making Apex® Fastener Tools
On November 14, Apex Tool Group’s Dayton, Ohio plant held a birthday party of major proportions – recognizing 80 years of manufacturing industrial fastening tools under the Apex® brand. Associates, retirees, sales reps, and even the Mayor of Dayton attended the celebration. The plant presented shirts and stainless steel travel mugs to its approximately 190 associates as well as hosting a steak and chicken cook-out for attendees.
Founded in 1933 in Dayton, Ohio, the Apex® brand has grown to become one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial fastener tools for the automotive, aerospace, energy, electronics, transportation, and other GI channels. The Apex® products manufactured in Dayton include industrial-quality screwdriver bits, sockets, extensions, and adapters, as well as universal joints for aerospace and commercial applications.
Also manufactured at our Dayton Power Tools facility is our Airetool® brand of tube service tools. These tools are used primarily in the manufacture and servicing of heat exchangers and boilers for the energy, petrochemical, and HVAC industries.
With 80 years of making the Apex brand, who has been at the Dayton facility the longest? That would be hourly machinist, Wayne Smith. He’s been at the plant for over 47 years, having started working in 1966!
